Alain Whyte

Fanzine interview taster

by Whytegrrrl

NAME

Right before Alain Whyte kicked off his tour with his new band, Red Lightning, I was greatly honored to be asked if I would conduct an interview with Alain before their first show at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. Beforehand, I asked a few close friends for question ideas and chose what I felt were the best out of a wide selection. Trust me, there were many to chose from, but these I felt would provide the best view into the mind and heart of our beloved Alain.

Here are the questions I asked Alain, but you will have to get a copy of the zine to find out the answers!

1. Do you prefer being a "front man" or a "right hand man"?

2. What songs are you most proud of writing, and why?

3. How did you (guys) come to form the band, "Red Lightning"?

4. What is your fave city to perform in?

5. What are your musical influences?

6. Do you ever get stage fright?

7. Is there anything you would like to accomplish that you haven't already?

8. What is your fave guitar chord?

9. Given the Motivators was a project with Gary Day and Spike T. Smith, was forming Red Lightning in LA a conscious effort to start something completely new without a past history?

10. How much do you divide your time between LA and London? What are the best and worst aspect of each?

11. What was your favorite television show as a child?

12. What would you be doing for a living if you weren't a musician?

13. Is there anything in particular you would like to tell your fans?

14. What song would you like to cover, but are afraid to take on?

15. Do you prefer small, medium, or large venues?

16. What is your take on fans? The shy vs. the over zealous, ie, how would you prefer to be approached whilst out and about?

17. Which musical instruments do you wish you could play, but don't?

18. Do you have an ipod, and if so, what is on your playlists?

19. What in life brings you happiness, besides music?

20. What comments/thoughts do you have about your other band members?

Because of the length of the interview will be divided into two sections, Part 1 and Part 2, so stay tunned!
